Simple Quick Setup
Here’s how to set up our simple WordPress themes, Jelly Bean and Blue Poppy. These themes are different from our other ones and are designed to be a beginner-friendly alternative to are larger themes. Here’s how to get started:
Step 1: Check Your Homepage! The drag-and-drop homepage, main menu, and page templates are generated during activation. Take a look and make sure they were all generated correctly. If you see any issues, here’s how to set the homepage up manually.
Step 2: Import Demo Content. If your site is brand new and has zero content, import demo content by going to Tools > Import and uploading the .XML file provided for you. If you don’t have it, please contact us at support (at) littlethemeshop (dot) com for us to send it to you.
Step 3: Start Customizing. Once your homepage is looking good, click “Customize” in your admin bar to start customizing your site. See, we told you it would be easy! More info on customizing.
Manual Setup
If for whatever reason your homepage wasn’t generated, here’s how to set it up manually.
- Go to Pages and see if you have a page named “[Theme Name] Homepage.” If you don’t, create one. Leave this page empty.
- Next, go to Settings and click on Reading. From here, click on “A static page” under “Homepage Settings.” Under “Homepage,” select the page “[Theme Name] Homepage.” Select whatever page you want for “Posts Page.” That’s where your blog feed will go. Save.
- Go to the homepage to see how it all looks. To start customizing the colors or to change the homepage layout order, click on Customize in your admin bar.
